Top ten best teams for the 2021 NHL season (part 1)
We all hope that the 2021 NHL season will be able to start in the next few months. Regardless the length of the season, it may be the most competitive one in the history of the league. Now let’s discuss about the best teams that are going to participate in the next season.
Washington Capitals
There is no doubt to kick off the top ten list with the Washington Capitals. Although they finished the last couple seasons in a disappointing way, it can’t be denied that they have won the Metropolitan Division five consecutive years and remain loaded up front. Their top-end talents are among the best in the league, making them a very high scoring team. What people wonder now is whether Ilya Samsonov can truly become a starter in the season after Holtby’s departure. Whether the answer is yes or no, the Capitals is still a heavy threat in the Metro and the Eastern Conference.
Carolina Hurricanes
Although the Hurricanes played quite well last season, it was still a disappointment for them. This team was supposed to dominate the Metropolitan Division, but ended up in fourth place. In terms of skaters, the Canes is the best team in the Division. They have star power, good two-way players, and penalty killers, but lack a star goaltender. James Reimer and Petr Mrazek are simply not good enough to lead a team to be the Champion. And Carolina is hoped to address this problem.
St. Louis Blues
Losing their captain, Alex Pietrangelo, St. Louis Blueshurts terribly. Torey Krug is a decent replacement but he can’t totally match Pietrangelo’s caliber and leadership. However, this team is capable of competing amongst the best teams in the Western Conference. Whether the Blues can remain a top team in the next season or slip away into mediocrity slowly depends on their goaltending and the way they respond to losing their captain.
