31 players picked in first round of 2020 NHL Draft (part 1)

The 31 players who were selected in the first round of the 2020 NHL Draft have NHL hopes. Some of them have got a start toward that goal by signing an entry-level, three-year contract. More can sign when we make our way through the 2020-21 season. Here is a look at the NHL players who have signed and the status of the others.

1. Quinton Byfield, Los Angeles Kings (signed)

Quinton Byfield signed a three-year, entry-level contract on October 16. He can play a top-nine role for the LA Kings this season or stay with Sudbury of the Ontario Hockey League.

2. Alexis Lafreniere, New York Rangers (signed)

Alexis Lafreniere signed a three-year, entry-level contract on October 12.

3. Tim Stuetzle, Ottawa Senators (unsigned)

Tim Stuetzle can play for the Ottawa Senators or continue to stay with Mannheim in Germany’s top professional league. He had arm surgery on October 15 with recovery time being 6 to 8 weeks.

4. Jake Sanderson, Ottawa Senators (unsigned)

Many expect that Jake Sanderson could play at the University of North Dakota this season.

5. Lucas Raymond, Detroit Red Wings (unsigned)

Lucas Raymond started the season with Frolunda in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL).

6. Jamie Drysdale, Anaheim Ducks (unsigned)

Jamie Drysdale is expected to play for Erie of the OHL this season.

7. Marco Rossi, Minnesota Wild (unsigned)

Marco Rossi could play for the Wild or remain with Ottawa of the OHL.

8. Alexander Holtz, New Jersey Devils (unsigned)

Alexander Holtz started the season with Djurgarden of the SHL.

9. Jack Quinn, Buffalo Sabres (unsigned)

Jack Quinn is expected to play for Ottawa of the OHL this season.

10. Cole Perfetti, Winnipeg Jets (unsigned)

Cole Perfetti is expected to play for Saginaw of the OHL this season.

11. Anton Lundell, Florida Panthers (unsigned)

Anton Lundell started the season with HIFK in Finland’s top professional league, Liiga.

12. Iaroslav Askarov, Nashville Predators (unsigned)

Iaroslav Askarov started the season with SKA St. Petersburg of the Kontinental Hockey League.

13. Seth Jarvis, Carolina Hurricanes (unsigned)

Seth Jarvis is expected to play this season with Portland of the Western Hockey League.
