NHL Playoff All-Star Teams: Best Players from Each Country (part 2)
The United States
Forward 1: Brock Nelson, from NY Islanders. Sitting comfortably in the top 10 in points, Brock Nelson was in the running for the playoff goal lead when the Isles were eliminated in the East final.
Forward 2: J.T. Miller, from Vancouver. In the regular season, J.T. Miller made magic with Elias Pettersson and nothing changed in the playoffs.
Forward 3: Joe Pavelski, from Dallas. Only four active NHL players, including Patrick Marleau, Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Alex Ovechkin, have more career post-season tallies than Pavelski.
Defense 1: Quinn Hughes, from Vancouver. Supreme. Sublime. Superb. Pick your superlative.
Defense 2: Nate Schmidt, from Vegas. There are other candidates, but let’s go with Nate Schmidt on the strength of his nine points in 20 playoff contests.
Goalie: Thatcher Demko, from Vancouver. Thatcher Demko only played four games and three starts. But in fact, no American goalie has played more than four games in the playoffs.
Rookie: Quinn Hughes, from Vancouver. Quinn Hughes scored sixteen points in 17 games in his playoff debut.
Czech Republic
Forward 1: Ondrej Palat, from Tampa Bay. Ondrej Palat scored eleven goals consisting of three game-winners and an OT tally while playing 21 minutes per night.
Forward 2: David Krejci, from Boston. Scoring 12 points in 13 games and 115 career playoff points, David Krejci moved into ninth place among active NHL players.
Forward 3: David Pastrnak, from Boston. Three goals and 10 points in 10 games is a great playoff performance for most NHL players. But the bar is set even higher for Pastrnak.
Defense: Michal Kempny, from Washington. Only three defensemen from Czech appeared in the 2020 NHL playoffs and Kempny took the top honors.
Goalie: Petr Mrazek, from Carolina. Mrazek posted a .929 save percentage in five starts for the Hurricanes.
Rookie: Dominik Kubalik, from Chicago. Kubalik becomes the league’s leading rookie goal-scorer in the regular season after having delivered four goals and eight points in nine games.
